Caerynwch, one of North Wales’ most enigmatic stately homes, has magnificent 15 acre gardens.

The estate, which is familiar to travellers as the imposing historic mansion visible through the trees bordering the A470 just south of Dolgellau, has gardens which were established in the 1800s and feature a collection of special rhododendrons brought back from China in the 1900’s by Mary Richards, a renowned botanist. The gardens are slowly being restored by her grandson Andrew Richards and his wife Hilary.

There is a newly-discovered Victorian riverside walk to the site of the original tennis court on the banks of the river Clywedog which is currently undergoing major renovation.”
